Toxicity in plants is due to increased concentration of micronutrients in plant tissue. The toxicity level varies for any type of nutrients, also for different types of plants.
Few tips in order to prevent toxicity in plants are:
- A traditional way of liming will do in initial stages.
- Follow the recommended rates of fertilizers’ use and controlled usage of waste materials like sewage sludge, coal fly ash be kept in mind.
- Use of plant species and genotypes less susceptible to toxicity are recommended where toxicity is suspected.
- Provide sufficient drainage, in order to wash off excessive toxicity level.
- Addition of a sufficient amount of organic matter binds some of the toxic elements.
