Light is an essential element for plant metabolism. Plants make use of photons that are light to food-energy production for photosynthesis. Each plant requires a wide range of light intensity, duration, color spectrum for their own benefits respectively.

Before choosing a grow light, just make sure of your plant condition,

  • type of plant growing under grow light,
  • physiology of that plant- grow duration, growth length, functions and
  • place of grow light installation.

Whether for the fully grown plants or starter seedlings, light required is distinct. Based on their own significance choose a compatible grow light that suits every plant in the grow room.

  • Heat and Light
Check out different kinds of grow lighting such as Incandescent, Fluorescent and LED for various heat-light generation. Low-light plants like ferns and vines best adapt to Incandescent while tropical and succulent plants rich-light lovers.
  • Spectrum
Light bulbs are classified based on their ability to filter light spectrum. A flower plant requires a 2700K bulb of narrow spectrum range while vegetable plants prefer 6500K wide spectrum.
  • Reflector
Reflector, as the name suggests, reflects the escaping light back onto the plants and maximizes the level of light they receive. It helps to increase the lumen reading at the bottom of the grow box and symmetrically distributes the light from all through the growing area.
  • Budget
Having a budget in mind while making necessary buying decisions is the foremost thing. Calculate the number of lighting equipment, wattage of bulbs, desired energy cost and amount feasibility, choose an appropriate grow light.
